Trent Leichleiter: Professional Trainer
Trent Leichleiter, Pheasant Bonanza's newest Pro Trainer.
He is a young, energetic and passionate trainer who enjoys working with both
flushing and pointing breeds. Trent has recently trained and handled his two
Labradors to achieve AKC junior and senior hunt titles.
He graduated from Dana College with a double major in
education, and competed five years with the wrestling team. During his time
in college, he became an All-American wrestler, and his wrestling team were
National Champions during his senior year. Trent is also a three time
Academic All-American. He looks forward to using the persistence and hard
work he developed through wrestling and academics to train the dogs he will
work with at Pheasant Bonanza.
Trent's family includes his wife Katie, and children Jager & Kruze. Pheasant Bonanza is proud to include Trent as a part of
their ORVIS Endorsed dog training and breeding program.
Cheryl Pleskac is Pheasant Bonanza's newest ProTrainer.
Cheryl was hired as the kennel manager when she started and has since
become a full-time trainer. With the advice and help from the other
trainers, she has accomplished quite the list of great finished hunting
dogs, both pointers and flushers.
She also has become the "go to" trainer for the Spinone
Italianos in the area. As many Spinone owners have come to find out, at
times they can be a challenging breed, but with her great amount of patience
& experience Cheryl has come to enjoy working with them & catering her
training to meet their needs & behavior.
Cheryl has German Shorthaired Pointers of her own which
she runs in local competitions and has done very well with. With her
background of training horses and her own dogs through the years after high
school, it has been an easy transition to training hunting dogs.
Cheryl also specializes in obedience training. She
believes that it is essential to have an obedient dog to make both dog &
owner lifelong partners. Obedience is an important staple to the training
program at Pheasant Bonanza. Cheryl welcomes all breeds of dogs at any age
to take part in this learning experience, as well as the owners to learn
right along with them.
She has two daughters, Josey, who also works at Pheasant
Bonanza and a younger daughter, Calli, who attends Oakland-Craig high
school.
Pheasant Bonanza is proud to include Cheryl as a part of
their Orvis Endorsed dog training & breeding program!
Chuck Bohlin is one of Pheasant Bonanza.s professional dog
trainers. Chuck's love of the outdoors continued after his retirement from
dentistry by joining the Pheasant Bonanza team as a full time trainer. He
feels it is a privilege to work with this outstanding team not only in dog
training, but other aspects of running a hunt club & dog kennel.
Chuck occasionally guides for Pheasant Bonanza, but feels
the highlight of each day is working with the dogs to bring out their full
potential. "Training several breeds of dogs is a constant learning
experience for both dog & trainer." says Chuck. He has trained several dogs
that have since received AKC titles, won Pheasant Hunter Unlimited events
and other hunting competitions.
The dog training program at Pheasant Bonanza, which Chuck
helped develop, he feels is one of the best in the country and likes how it
is designed on an individual basis. He particularly likes to take the dogs
to the training pond to do water work in the summer and feels that the
advantage of training at a hunt club is having the ability to train dogs
over plenty of birds, pheasant, chukar, quail or pigeons from the early
puppy stage through to a finished dog. Chuck encourages all dog owners to
be part of the training process in order for the dogs to continue their
development.
Chuck's family includes his wife, Charlotte, 3 children
and 7 grandchildren. His grandchildren love to come to Pheasant Bonanza and
play with the dogs & puppies.
